Health Minister tours Armadale Hospital

As part of a scheduled visit, WA Health Minister Meredith Hammat made a whistle-stop tour of Armadale Hospital on Thursday, speaking to staff and finding out about the latest initiatives to improve patient flow.
“I’ve had a chance to see the hospital is very busy. It’s been great to meet some of the staff. What I can see is the team is really committed and passionate about making change and improving access to the local community,” the Minister said.
She was escorted by East Metropolitan Health Service (EMHS) Chief Executive Dr Lesley Bennett and Armadale Kalamunda Group (AKG) Executive Director Alisha Thompson.
The Minister spent time with staff in the Emergency Department, Medical Admissions Unit, Discharge Lounge and Home Hospital onboarding area.
Alisha said the Minister heard about two facets of the hospital’s operations – the immense workload and the initiatives in place to improve patient flow such as the new Discharge Lounge and Home Hospital Service.
Over the past 12 months, the ED has seen 71,897 presentations and the Outpatients clinic hosted 6,000 appointments.
