Opening November 2024 – the new Royal Perth Hospital Innovation Hub, part of the East Metropolitan Health Service (EMHS)

The Hub, located in Wellington Street, Perth, connects EMHS clinicians and innovators to industry professionals and the broader innovation landscape, to support our people to develop their innovative ideas the for the improved health of all Western Australians. 

The Hub provides a space for professional development, collaborative co-working, and even prototype development of new medical devices and technologies through the new Makers Space, equipped with digital design and 3D printing capabilities. 

Other services offered at the hub include: 

  • A comprehensive idea capture and management program underpinned by project management support to ensure staff with game-changing health ideas are supported to turn their ideas into a trial and then translate them into the new normal in our WA hospitals. 
  • A purpose-built virtual reality lounge to continue exploration of the use of VR technologies in hospital services, for example in clinical training and enhancement of the patient experience. 
  • An exciting calendar of staff professional development and industry networking events that bring together the clinical expertise of the hospital with the problem-solving drivers in WA industry.

We know our staff are our greatest resource and we encourage all staff to be innovators.

We support our staff to further their understanding and foster a culture of innovation through our flagship Innovation Champions program. The Innovation Champions program provides training in three innovation methods:

  • problem reframing
  • human centred design thinking
  • behavioural insights.
