Learning for Patient Safety

Learning for Patient Safety

As part of our commitment to excellence and high quality care, we foster a culture of continuous improvement where we encourage and facilitate constant staff learning.

An important part of this commitment is to look closely at any incidents that occur at EMHS, how we can prevent them, and how we can improve patient outcomes.

  • Staff assisting patient with walking
Falls Incidents To ensure no patient harm, EMHS is consistently working towards preventing all falls. To do so, EMHS staff conduct fall risk assessments on all appropriate patients.
  • Staff talking and learning
High Level Incident Overviews and Strategies Ensuring patient safety and the delivery of high quality care at all times is the number one priority for EMHS.
  • Staff reviewing medication
Medication Related Incidents EMHS constantly strives to reduce the rate of medication related incidents across all EMHS hospitals by fostering a culture that encourages ongoing quality improvement.
  • Doctor, nurse, patient and family in hospital room
Pressure Injury Incidents At EMHS we foster a culture that drives quality improvement, because of this, the EMHS overall pressure injury incidence rate is consistently better than the benchmark and continues to decrease.
