Anaesthesia & Pain Medicine
RPH Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine engages in a range of investigator-led novel research, advancing the most promising ideas towards international, multi-centre, practice-changing trials conducted across the ANZCA Clinical Trials Network.
Research interests and focus
We have a rich history of contribution to clinical research in anaesthesia and pain medicine. Our current research areas of interest include:
- The role of inflammation in recovery after surgery and the treatment potential of anti-inflammatory drugs.
- Chronic pain after breast cancer surgery and the treatment potential of lidocaine infusions.
- Hypotension after major joint surgery and the treatment potential of midodrine.
- Predicting 30-day mortality risk after major surgery and the treatment potential of enhanced postoperative monitoring for high-risk patients.
