RPH Nephrology - Renal
Royal Perth Hospital is one of three Western Australian metropolitan teaching hospitals providing adult renal (nephrology) services.
The services provided include:
- Management of chronic kidney disease
- Kidney replacement therapy: Treatment of kidney failure including haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and renal supportive care
- Transplantation: Care of acute and chronic kidney transplant recipients
- Fabry clinics: Royal Perth Hospital provides the state-wide service for the management of Fabry's disease. The service provides a strong educational and research role with active participation in RACP training, GP training and affiliations with overseas renal units, providing education for overseas doctors.
- Outreach services: Consultants and Nurse Practitioners provide outreach to the Kimberely, Wheatbelt and Esperance regions.
- Transition clinics: These clinics enable a smoother transition of care for young adults from the paediatrics service to the adult nephrology service.
