Wool-lar Aboriginal Volunteer Program

Improving the overall health experience for Aboriginal patients is the driver behind EMHS’ Wool-lar Aboriginal Volunteer Program.

Supported by the Aboriginal Health Strategy Unit, the Wool-lar program provides volunteers with training, support and space to yarn.

Currently the program is running at Royal Perth Hospital; however, it will expand to other EMHS hospitals in the near future.

Former RPH patient Gail Wynne was the first volunteer to join this program, which has strong support from EMHS’ Aboriginal Health Community Advisory Groups.

"It is so lovely to be able to give back to the community and provide comfort to Aboriginal people in hospital," Gail said.
