Specialist Aboriginal Mental Health Service
Wungen Kartup means “place of healthy minds” in the Noongar language. The Wungen Kartup Specialist Aboriginal Mental Health Service is an Adult and Older Adult Community Mental Health Service that is funded by Western Australia Government.
Wungen Kartup provides specialist mental health services to the Aboriginal community in the Perth metropolitan area. The specialisation of our service relates to our ability to provide clinically safe culturally supportive care to Aboriginal individuals and their families.
- Our teams provide culturally appropriate multidisciplinary mental health care coordination services for Aboriginal people with a serious mental health disorder who are marginalised and at risk and have a significant combination of – co-morbid substance abuse disorder and/or complex psychosocial issues;
- Are unable or unwilling to access mainstream mental health or social and emotional well-being services
- Wungen Kartup offers culturally competent holistic multidisciplinary consultation and cultural liaison to clients. And mental health service providers throughout Perth metropolitan area whom require assistance in working with Aboriginal clients.
Wungen Kartup provides a comprehensive multidisciplinary mental health joint triage, brief intervention and care coordination service available to all Aboriginal people and their families living in the metropolitan area.
