Clinical Design and Advanced Manufacturing
The Clinical Design and Advanced Manufacturing (AM) services provide for the design, prototyping and manufacture in support of research, clinical development and patient services (e.g. patient specific implants) by using combinations of conventional and advanced techniques such as CAD/CAM, fusion deposition modelling, laser etching and additive manufacturing.
The service provides the skills and resources to transition concepts, proposed for use in the delivery of clinical services, into a prototype or production item that requires mechanical design and manufacture, emerging technologies such as rapid prototyping and digital manufacture are delivered in support of traditional technologies.
The AM service employs tertiary qualified engineers, technologists and technical officers with specialised trade skills including digital manufacturing experience.
