Now in their fourth year, the Health Consumer Excellence Awards, initiated by the Health Consumers’ Council, were created to honour the everyday heroes in health in Western Australia.

At East Metropolitan Health Service (EMHS) we value the contributions from all of our staff; acknowledging the role that everybody plays in providing or supporting the provision of high quality health care to our consumers.

It is incredibly pleasing to see a number of our staff and services were nominated for the Health Consumer Excellence Awards for 2019.

Congratulations to the following nominees who were directly nominated by consumers and/or members of the public:

Health Organisation Award

This category is for health organisations working effectively with consumers to improve services:

  • Kalamunda Hospital Palliative Care nursing team, Kalamunda Hospital
  • Emergency Department, Royal Perth Hospital
  • Haematology & Oncology Department, Royal Perth Hospital

Health Professional Award

This category is for health professionals demonstrating excellence in patient care:

  • Nathan Highton, Emergency Department, Royal Perth Hospital
  • Erica Bosveid, Ward Clerk Haematology and Oncology, Royal Perth Hospital
  • Paul Philpott, Community Mental Health Nurse, Bentley Health Service

Compassionate Care Award

This award is to acknowledge people providing direct patient care who demonstrate compassion:

  • Kalamunda Hospital Palliative Care nursing team, Kalamunda Hospital
  • Haematology and Oncology Department, Royal Perth Hospital
  • Nathan Highton, Emergency Department, Royal Perth Hospital

It is wonderful to see these individuals, teams and services acknowledged by the patients and community that we serve. Their efforts deserve celebration.

Compassionate Care Award
