Farewell Maha Rajagopal
This week we celebrated the long career of Maha Rajagopal, our Area Director of Nursing who recently announced her retirement.
Maha has been a dedicated, passionate and much-loved colleague for more than thirty years. In each of her many roles, her commitment to excellence, collaboration and patient-focussed care has been an inspiration to all.
She started working at RPH as a registered nurse in 1988, and was quickly recognised for her commitment to patient care. Maha was appointed as a staff development nurse two years later, and then accepted the role of Clinical Nurse Specialist. Here, she led her nursing team to challenge nursing best practices, and improved both staff and patient satisfaction.
Maha then started her journey through senior leadership positions in WA Health, beginning with her appointment as Director of Nursing at RPH in 2009. In 2011, she was asked to fill the Executive Director role for a year – a testimony to the high regard in which Maha is held by WA Health and the community.
In the same year, Maha was awarded the Adjunct Associate Professor from Curtin University which recognised her outstanding contribution to nursing and midwifery healthcare in WA.
Maha has been a member of the executive team for EMHS since its inception, as Area Director of Nursing alongside her role of Director of Nursing at RPBG. In this role, she played an integral part of significant programs and projects, including the Stop the Violence campaign focussing on prevention and management of workplace violence and aggression, and the Amazing Nursing Care program.
Thank you for commitment and contribution to WA Health, Maha, and we wish you all the best in your retirement.
