representative to sit on the Mental Health Emergency response Line (MHERL) Review Project Control Group (PCG) to support the MHERL review project..

PCG members, will follow the MHERL Review Project through its project phases and be expected to:

  • attend monthly meetings of the MHERL Review Project Control Group
  • advise on – and influence the design of – a recovery-orientated MHERL and Rurallink Service
  • provide a consumer/carer perspective and represent the views of other consumers and carers
  • support MHERL to raise awareness of the service among the mental health community
  • advise on ways MHERL could better meet the needs of the different people who access the service
  • review project and service documents
  • ensure consumer and carer needs are considered and reflected within project decisions.

We understand that some rural and other applicants may be unable to attend in person so virtual attendance will be supported.

Time Commitment

Successful applicants will attend monthly meetings of the MHERL Review Project Control Group (PCG) (anticipated 2 hours monthly). The project will run for a minimum of a six months.

Remuneration

You will be paid $37.50 per hour (minimum of two hours)

Skills and Experience

Required

  • Prior experience as a mental health consumer or carer representative.
  • Lived experience of accessing MHERL and/or Rurallink.
  • The ability to express views to others and negotiate respectfully for positive outcomes.
  • Basic IT literacy skills. Access to a computer with internet is required for online attendance.

    Desirable

  • A connection to mental health consumer or carer lived experience groups, networks, or other groups with linkages to diverse populations or the local community.
  • Prior experience reviewing or providing feedback on health service or other documents
  • Skills/experience in reviewing or understanding data
  • Prior experience supporting a health services project or involvement in advocating for consumers or carers on systems wide issues

People with a disability, from culturally or linguistically diverse backgrounds or who identify as Aboriginal; sexual, gender or bodily diverse (LGBTIQ+) or who have lived experience of a range of mental health conditions and/or alcohol and other drug issues, will be viewed favourably.

Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed and successful applicants will be reference checked prior to appointment.

Successful applicants will be required to undergo a National Police Clearance, provide immunisation records and work in accordance with the EMHS Volunteer Policy and WA Health confidentiality requirements.
