East Metropolitan Health Service (EMHS) is calling for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the community to join the Aboriginal Health Community Advisory Groups (CAG).

Aboriginal Health Community Advisory Groups

EMHS is dedicated to engaging with Aboriginal community residing in the eastern metropolitan corridor. There are four Aboriginal Health Community Advisory Groups (AHCAG) developed to foster a genuine partnership between Aboriginal people and the EMHS sites to achieve better health outcomes for Aboriginal people. The role of members is to provide feedback information from the AHCAG meetings to the wider Aboriginal community within their district and inform EMHS on key issues affecting their Community.

EMHS is committed to developing a genuine and active partnership with Aboriginal community aimed at closing the gap in health inequities between Aboriginal people and the broader community. It will do this by:

  • Facilitating and supporting Aboriginal community to participate in and engage with hospital and health services.
  • Creating an engagement model and pathway that supports the voice of the Aboriginal community in the healthcare environment.

Aboriginal Health Community Advisory Groups (CAG) as members of the following:

  1. Royal Perth Hospital & Inner-City CAG
  2. Bentley Health Service CAG
  3. Armadale & Kalamunda Health Service CAG
  4. St John of God Public Hospital (Midland) CAG

The members of CAGs have been actively involved in making changes within East Metro health services, hospitals, programs and policies for over 5 years.

To become a member a person must be:

  • Aboriginal community members 18 years or older;
  • Reside within EMHS health district (See suburbs below);
  • Not working full-time;
