EMHS Byford Health Hub Community and Consumer Advisory Group – Seeking Expressions of Interest

17/11/2021

You are invited to be part of an exciting opportunity to shape the future Byford Health Hub and services available in your local area.

About the Byford Health Hub

The Byford Health Hub (BHH) was announced as a 2021 McGowan and WA Labor Government election commitment to support the region’s rapidly growing community. The hub is to be located in the heart of Byford. Planning undertaken to date has recognised the potential benefits of having a BHH model which brings together a mix of health and social health services under the one roof. This is an opportunity to shape a shared model of care which can positively impact the health and wellbeing of the community.

About the BHH Community and Consumer Advisory Group

The BHH Community and Consumer Advisory Group (the BHH CaC Advisory Group) is being formed alongside a Service Providers and Clinicians Advisory Group as well as a number of targeted Working Groups, to provide advice and support to shape the BHH. All groups will report to an overarching BHH Project Reference Group.

The BHH CaC Advisory Group will have an initial briefing conducted in late November 2021, where future meetings will be discussed. While meeting requirements are still to be determined by the program it is likely be no more than six times a year. There will be opportunities to participate face-to-face and virtually. The function and membership of the group will be reviewed at the end of the first 12 months of operation to guide if any changes need to be made. Your role as a BHH CaC Advisory Group Member will be to:

  • Provide advice on design and user needs for the BHH as directed by the Project Reference Group, based on your knowledge and experience as a health care consumer and understanding of the Byford community.
  • Consider the views and issues affecting the Byford community which will be important considerations as part of the BHH planning.
  • Provide advice and identify opportunities to consult and engage with the broader community about the BHH. This may include consulting with identified consumers/consumer groups to gauge their views on relevant issues.
  • Guide the longer-term plan for the ongoing involvement of community and consumers in the BHH Program.
  • Provide community/consumer input to other BHH advisory and working groups as required.

Who are we looking for?

As a BHH CaC Advisory Group member you will ideally be:

  • Over the age of 18 (NB: input will be sought from younger people during specific stages of the program)
  • Living in the Byford/Serpentine-Jarrahdale area and/or have extensive networks in the area
  • Passionate about health and health-related issues
  • Willing to share your own personal knowledge and experiences as a health and social care consumer
  • Able to reflect the needs and interests of the community and consumers you represent
  • Able to communicate, engage and collaborate with a range of stakeholders
  • Able to work collaboratively (including seeking broader consumer and community views if required by the Committee)
  • Able to attend meetings as required
  • Able to maintain confidentiality.

The Advisory Group will be led and facilitated by the EMHS BHH Program Management Office (PMO).

Remuneration

BHH CaC Advisory Group members will be reimbursed for their time in line with the Health Consumer Council of WA Engagement Policy (section 4.7 Consumer Representative/Consultation Payment Table).
