Mount Lawley Hospital one step closer to joining EMHS

A new and exciting chapter is about to begin for East Metropolitan Health Service (EMHS) with Mount Lawley Hospital set to officially join WA’s public health system from midnight on 31 August.

The transition will bring 196 additional beds into the public health system and welcome a new group of healthcare workers to WA Health.

On Sunday (23 August), Health Minister Meredith Hammat joined EMHS board members and executives - including chief executive Joel Gurr - for a tour of the soon to be rebranded hospital.

Months of planning and preparation have been underway behind the scenes to support a safe and seamless transition, with teams working across a range of areas to ensure the hospital is ready for the change.

For patients, the transition is designed to be as seamless as possible, with no changes required to the way they access their care.

Patients can continue to attend their appointments and receive treatment as planned, with their care continuing as normal throughout the transition.

The milestone marks an important step for Mount Lawley Hospital as it becomes part of WA Health and expands the capacity of the public health system to provide care for the community.
