EMHS engineer claims top prize at annual awards
Ryan was recognised among some of WA’s brightest emerging engineering talent for his contribution to the profession.
East Metropolitan Health Service engineer Ryan Collier has been recognised among Western Australia’s best emerging engineering talent.
Ryan recently took home the Emerging Professional Engineer of the Year award at the 2026 Engineers Australia Excellence Awards in Western Australia.
The award recognises Ryan’s contribution to the engineering profession, his work at EMHS and his commitment to using engineering expertise to make a meaningful difference.
Holding a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Honours) from Curtin University, Ryan specialises in patient-matched medical devices, surgical planning and assistive technology.
Over seven years, Ryan has helped treat more than 600 patients, contributed to world-first surgical procedures and authored research publications.
His recognition at the Engineers Australia Excellence Awards is a wonderful acknowledgement of his expertise, innovation and dedication to his profession.
Ryan will now go on to represent WA at the Excellence Awards Gala Dinner 2026 held at Melbourne Town Hall on Thursday 12 November.
Achievement award winners are recognised as the national winner for their awards.
