Bentley Health Service celebrates International Midwives Day 05 May 2019 Bentley Health Service's (BHS) maternity team took a step back in time on Friday, in recognition of today’s International Midwives Day. Unsurprisingly, the staff are fans of the period drama "Call the Midwife", about a group of nurse midwives working in the East End of London in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Their special day gave them the ideal excuse to dress midwife Tessa Simcox in a uniform of days long ago. Tessa, who herself was born at BHS, said she was honoured to take centre stage on the day and celebrate the caring and unique role midwives play within the community. This year’s theme, “Midwives: Defenders of Women’s Rights”, is a strong reminder of the significant contribution our midwives make in the delivery of professional, compassionate care to women regardless of their age, culture, sexual orientation or social status. Our staff, helping to deliver health for all 03 May 2019 International Day of the Midwife and International Nurses' Day will be celebrated on 5 and 12 May respectively, in recognition of the amazing care our nurses and midwives provide to people in our community every day. This year's themes, Nurses: A Voice to Lead: Health for All and Midwives: Defenders of Women's Rights, are a strong reminder of the significant contribution our nurses and midwives make in the delivery of professional, compassionate care. It is important to recognise the work they do can be transformational to the health care needs of individuals and communities. Patient Experience Week 2019 29 April 2019 This week is Patient Experience Week – a time to celebrate and honour our professional and compassionate staff who strive to make our patients, families and carers experience as positive as possible. Supported by the Health Consumers’ Council in Western Australia, Patient Experience Week is a global event that acknowledges the work of each person who is involved in caring for patients throughout their health care journey. RPBG Service 3 achieves Rainbow Tick Accreditation 10 April 2019 Congratulations to the Royal Perth Bentley Group (RPBG) Mental Health Inpatient Services on recently achieving Rainbow Tick Accreditation in recognition of their commitment to delivering safe and inclusive healthcare practice for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, and/or Intersex (LGBTI) community members. Since February 2016, both Royal Perth and Bentley Hospital have been working toward achieving Rainbow Tick accreditation by improving practices to promote inclusivity of patients, carers and staff who identify as being LGBTI. In September 2018 they were formally assessed across six standards which include: organisational capacity workforce development consumer participation a welcoming and accessible organisation disclosure and documentation culturally safe and acceptable services.
